InstaAudio Downloader (the Extension) is a browser extension that allows users to download voice messages from their own Instagram Direct Message conversations. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
Data Collection
We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data.
The Extension operates entirely within your browser. No data ever leaves your device or is sent to any external server.
How the Extension Works
- Network Interception (Local Only): The Extension monitors network requests made by Instagram in your browser tab to detect audio/voice message file URLs. This monitoring happens entirely locally in your browser.
- Audio Playback and Download: When you choose to play or download a voice message, the audio data is fetched directly from Instagram's servers to your browser. No intermediary servers are involved.
- No Account Access: The Extension does not access, read, or store your Instagram credentials, account information, messages, contacts, or any other personal data.
- No Analytics or Tracking: The Extension does not include any analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind.
Permissions Explained

Data Storage
- Audio URLs are stored temporarily in browser memory only while the tab is open.
- When you close the tab or switch chats, stored URLs are cleared.
- Nothing is written to disk except files you explicitly choose to download.
- No cookies, local storage, or IndexedDB is used.
Third-Party Services
The Extension does not communicate with any third-party services. All operations are performed locally between your browser and Instagram's servers.
Children's Privacy
The Extension does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the Last Updated date above. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
